IObundle is a System IP (HW/SW) company founded on April 12, 2018, with its main office in Lisbon, Portugal.
With the demise of Moore’s law systems will grow in terms of parallelism, not in terms of frequency of operation. The demand for processors, hardware accelerators and specialized peripherals will increase. The current "ARM" business model using licenses and royalties cannot survive the pressure to lower costs and the emergence of competitors.
IObundle's goal is to create an alternative architecture using the free RISC-V instruction set, develop programmable accelerators to avoid unnecessary customizations and peripherals with standard interfaces (e.g. AXI) to leverage the existing ecosystem. Then, original applications or open-source software can be used to obtain turnkey HW/SW solutions for our customers, mainly OEMs, IDMs, Fabless companies and FPGA consumers (telecoms, broadcasting, etc).
Our architectures can target different devices and aspects of modern life such as multimedia, cloud and edge computing for applications like medical imaging, defence and aerospace, artificial intelligence, wearables, security, and so on.
The company is led by José T. de Sousa, who is the sole owner, founder and manager of IObundle. José holds a PhD degree from Imperial College London, worked at Bell Labs / Lucent Technologies, Dafca Inc. and the University of Lisbon, where he's currently a lecturer. Dr. de Sousa co-founded and was CEO of startup company Coreworks S.A. from 2001 to 2013.
